After a night of docey doeing, pub karaoke and guitar leg in the QueenslanderHotel we have made a bleary start to Day 3. Had a lovely breakfast at Goondiwindi State School.
Sonya (aka Queen Bee) paid the winning price at the auction at last nights dinner to take the front seat of the chopper for a view around the town and arrive on the school oval. Talented kids played us music whilst we ate breakfast with Batman and the Riddler.
Back on the road for the 492 km trip to Darren Lockyer country, Roma. New-bee has mastered her navigational skills by not looking at so many cattle, dogs, lambies, roos and horses….ewwwww and concentrated on her 2-way radio skills. Breaker, breaker…copy that, rubber ducky!
At the 94 km mark the pack of roos just missed car #97…. Woah lucky, however Fi-bee ran over a freshly hit roo with the right front tyre. Erkkk! Fi-bee and New-bee danced with our upper bodies to “Lonely Boy” by Black Keyes imitating cool dude on the film clip while the Queen Bee napped in the back. Yes we were amusing ourselves while Queenie took a kip.
Dust, dust and more dust leaving Surat after lunch 75 Kms from Roma. 75 Kms from Roma did you say? Well we’re going the long way round … In fact its 225+ Kms on our route towards Roma. Rough and bumpy roads – glad NewBee had her Nurofen Zavance this morning!!
Then it was my turn to drive the afternoon (NewBee) and I added to the road kill count by hitting a blue tongue lizard and a sunbathing snake within 100 meters of each other.
Few running repairs to the clutch and we rolled into Roma for dinner and our Underbelly themed night.
Big drive to Emerald tomorrow … Maybe a quiet night tonight … Maybe!!!!
