After a night of dancing and singing with the local blues guy to help see in Sticky Starkey’s birthday we were up and raring to head to Cairns. Breakfast was at Charters Towers State School with lots of excited kids enjoying Icecreaminator ice cream for breakfast and singing happy birthday to Starkey.
FiBee took the wheel for the 1st shift along some challenging but great fun roads. Lots of rocky creek beds and washaways to keep things interesting. Queen Bee was up next and got to take us through 2 fairly deep river crossings. Nothing like the Gibb River Road to Broome last year but we still crossed with no issues and didnt stall in the middle … Unlike a lot of other teams!!
Then a lovely picnic by a gorgeous inland lake with the gang to celebrate Starkey’s birthday. Did we mention it was his birthday?!?!???
NewBee’s turn to bring us safely into town for the night. All tar roads but through the most gorgeous scenery of the Atherton Tablelands. Stunning.
Free night tonight in Cairns so washing, a decent meal and some good wine is on the agenda!
